The Brock Parking Garden reimagines essential infrastructure as an active part of the Norfolk Botanical Garden’s landscape and ecological mission. Developed as part of the Garden of Tomorrow, the project transforms a conventional asphalt parking lot into a planted, high-performance system that supports both visitor experience and environmental resilience. Designed to accommodate increased visitation during major events, the Parking Garden integrates rain gardens, permeable paver systems, shade trees supported by a unique European-origin structural substrate that allows them to reach full maturity, EV charging, and solar-powered infrastructure to manage stormwater, reduce heat, and improve long-term performance. As Designer of Record, Dills Architects leads a multidisciplinary team to coordinate civil engineering, landscape design, and sustainability strategies—demonstrating how technical rigor and ecological stewardship can work together to elevate cultural infrastructure.
