Town of Kitty Hawk

The Kitty Hawk Police Station reflects a collaborative process built on trust, guidance, and clarity. Working with a client new to building projects, Dills Architects acted as a translator and advocate—helping stakeholders understand possibilities while maintaining focus on long-term value. Discovery revealed opportunities for the building to serve multiple functions beyond policing, strengthening its civic role. A multi-functional training room is designed for public use while also converting to an emergency operations center when needed, extending the facility’s value in times of crisis. Through careful stewardship of budget, program, and community expectations, the project delivers a durable, flexible facility that supports both public service and civic identity.
