Nansemond Indian Nation
The Nansemond Nation Cultural Center building is grounded in discovery and stewardship—listening to Tribal leadership to shape a first building for the Nation on formally recognized ancestral land. The Nansemond, Indigenous to the Nansemond River and part of the historic Tsenacomocoalliance, identified the need for a cultural facility that brings together museum and display space, artifact storage, and a seat of governance for nation gatherings. Developed through interviews with Chief Anderson and Tribal representatives, the concept gives spatial form to memory, leadership, and community. While unbuilt, the work established a clear vision and renderings that guide future planning.
