Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts
Originally built in 1922 as Suffolk High School, this landmark holds deep civic memory and a complex history. A perception of inaccessibility defined the building—limiting the Center’s ability to serve as an open and active cultural destination. For Dills Architects, addressing long-neglected building systems became the opportunity to change that perception—resetting how the building presents itself and how it is approached.
Project Type: Renovation of multi-use cultural center in historic building
Delivery: Restoration of the building envelope, window replacement, drainage improvements, and interior repairs
Scope + Systems: Revitalization of essential systems

The project stabilized the historic structure while refreshing the public experience, reinforcing the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts as an accessible cultural anchor in the heart of downtown.
